Ryparken Station, Renovation and upgrade

The project improved the accessibility of the station for the high numbers of passengers it serves  - whether they arrive on bicycles or by bus or are changing between the two S-train lines intersecting here.

Ryparken Station is a busy transport interchange with the railway bridges overhead Lyngbyvejen’s heavy vehicular traffic. It is now a much more accessible station due to the enhanced layout with a new forecourt and improved bicycle parking facilities. Buildings, materials and functions were cleared up and simplified, revealing the station’s original architectural qualities in the process.

The functions of the station building have been brought together in a new lobby with simple glass façades towards the forecourt. The forecourt has been cleared of secondary buildings and sett-paved and 250 new bicycle parking spaces  have been established. The existing bridge structures have been cleared up and cleaned and the elevated platform buildings recladded.

A simple yet effective lighting design gives the forecourt character and improves the feeling of safety and security at night.
