Everyone should be able to move through our shared public spaces and buildings in a safe and dignified way. In complex environments such as stations, terminals, and other public transport hubs, universal design is not just a feature – it’s a fundamental design principle that ensures equal access and high functionality for all, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.

Haga Station and Urban Space
Gothenburg, Sweden
Visualisation
Gottlieb Paludan Architects is the design lead architect for Haga Station in Gothenburg, responsible for the design of the station buildings, bus and tram stops, and urban spaces.
Haga Station is part of Västlänken, a major infrastructure project in central Gothenburg with 8 km of new railway, including 6 km in tunnels, and a total construction cost of 20 billion SEK. As part of this, three underground stations are being established, with Haga Station located in a cultural-historical environment near Kungsparken.
The project area covers 25,000 square meters, and the services for the task include work on and above ground, which includes the station buildings for the underground station, new bus and tram stops, as well as all parts of the urban space such as planting, pavements, lighting, and other urban furnishings.
