Large-scale infrastructure such as data centres, solar parks and Power-to-X facilities are becoming integrated components of our energy system—and, consequently, of the landscapes that surround us. A climate-adapted energy landscape rich in nature and recreation, combining green solar energy production with new nature, groundwater protection, tourist attractions, urban development, research and education.
Gottlieb Paludan Architects is behind the landscape plan for the transformation of an agricultural landscape into an energy landscape that combines the production of green solar energy with the creation of new nature and recreational areas. The tight lines of the existing agricultural landscape are continued as the structure for the solar park, where future fields are covered by solar cells and grazed by animals. New wetlands, forest wedges and park paths are connected to nearby nature areas and form a new organic network across the solar park.

The network contributes to groundwater protection and offers recreational activities, themed trail connections, development of new nature, biodiversity enhancement, CO2 capture, communication and learning about green solutions, and a robust structure for stormwater management in the catchment area of the local city. The green structure connects to future urban and commercial development areas and divides the solar park into smaller areas so that the technical areas are not perceived as too large. The project includes proposals for a visitor center and a viewing tower as well as experimental laboratories that can be used to teach local schools about green energy and biodiversity. The project also proposes an innovation wedge where companies, organizations, universities, etc. can conduct research and innovation in the development of green solutions and green technology in direct connection to the solar park and the city.
