Everyone should be able to move through our shared public spaces and buildings in a safe and dignified way. In complex environments such as stations, terminals, and other public transport hubs, universal design is not just a feature – it’s a fundamental design principle that ensures equal access and high functionality for all, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.

DSB Train Workshop in Aarhus
Aarhus, Denmark
DSB (Danish State Railways) is establishing several train maintenance facilities for electric trains, and Gottlieb Paludan Architects is the architectural advisor through all phases for the facility in Aarhus, which is currently under construction.
The project includes two buildings - a main workshop with storage facilities, technical installations, smaller component workshops for specialized work, an administration wing, a canteen, and changing rooms for the employees, as well as a separate wheel-turning building east of the main workshop. Optimised functionality and a good working environment are the key design parameters for both buildings.
