Inbicon, Bioethanol Production Facility
Kalundborg, Denamrk

Inbicon is making history as the world's first company to establish a large-scale pilot plant for second-generation bioethanol. Located in Kalundborg, Denmark, this pioneering facility aims to demonstrate the feasibility of producing bioethanol from straw on a full scale.

The Inbicon plant is strategically positioned next to the Asnæsværket CHP plant, which provides the necessary district heating for processing the straw, the bioethanol's raw material. Some waste products from this process are utilized in pet food, while others are incinerated as biomass.

After its initial break-in period, the Kalundborg plant is expected to produce three tonnes of ethanol daily. Inbicon envisions exporting this innovative technology worldwide, requiring a production plant that is not only efficient but also professional, reliable, and reputable.

Inbicon envisions exporting this innovative technology worldwide, requiring a production plant that is not only efficient but also professional, reliable, and reputable. The architectural design features a flowing curtain of metal sheets around the entire production facility, allowing for adaptability in height and width based on the technical installations' needs. As the first of its kind, the plant is anticipated to undergo changes throughout its operational life, with its sectional and undulating façade easily modified for new doors, portholes, or extensions as needed.
